I must start by thanking everyone
from the district who sent their condolences, cards and messages during the sudden and
unexpected passing of my Dad. I know my mum, brothers and sister, not
forgetting Sally, Geraint, Lydia and Sharleen gained a great deal of comfort and
strength from your words and prayers at such a raw emotional time for us all.
Newport District once again shows
that true family spirit that makes Scouting in our district something very
special.
I look forward to getting back
out with as many of you all as possible during the Christmas period and the
Scout Post so don't feel uncomfortable saying “Hi”.
A bit late but well done to the
Beavers, Cubs and Scouts plus all who supported the laying of the wreath at the Civic Centre for those Scouts who gave so much during world war 1 and later conflicts.
I know a number of sections must
have been good in the last year as I have had a message form a Mr S Claus.? But
he wouldn't say which group? So let's
all be good and support each other during this very full on time called
Christmas.
When we are working hard with
the Scout Post we can still find the time to give support to others in the
Scouting way by supporting the FOOD BANK which sadly we seemed to have
forgotten lately.
So simply by asking our
membership to bring with them a tin or dry product along to your Scout Post sorting or when the post is transported to Fred's shed then simply leave it
with the SAS who will put it away and then I can take it over to the food bank.
PLEASE ASK YOUR MEMBERSHIP TO
BRING ITEMS SUCH AS TINNED MEAT/fish, UHT milk, cartons of juice, sugar, pasta,
rice, pasta sauces, jams etc.
Come on Newport let’s do what we
do best, helping others!
Happy Christmas / Nadolig Llawen
