Volunteer a week away in the UK

Are you interested in getting involved in volunteering on a summer camp this July or August? Or interested in taking a gap year in the UK and volunteering for up to a year on a full-time basis?

Volunteers needed for Summer Heritage Camps
Aged 16-25? Want to do something different, fun and rewarding this summer?
Why not volunteer on a CSV Heritage Camp!
CSV Heritage Camps is an opportunity like no other. You’ll spend a week volunteering to help preserve or restore a famous cathedral, church or historic building and doing your bit to protect our architectural heritage. You’ll get some great experience for your CV, make new friends, have a lot of fun and get the opportunity to make a difference to some of the most spectacular buildings in Britain.
Camps take place every year during July and August at various locations across the UK. Each camp is led by two experienced volunteer team leaders, who are also part of the team. Accommodation, food and equipment is provided.

Volunteers are aged between 16 and 25, with the leaders generally in their 20's. No previous experience is required. Volunteers mix with other young people from across the country and Europe, and have the opportunity to take part in an exciting week of development and team work.
Activities may include maintaining, cleaning and helping to conserve the buildings and grounds of the cathedral or historic building where you are based. You may also be restoring monuments and statues, re-laying stone pathways, maintaining ornamental woodwork and brass features, clearing crypts and cellars, painting, gardening or restoring graveyards.
CSV Heritage Camps is a great opportunity for those with an interest in architecture, heritage conservation, archaeology or those undertaking their Duke of Edinburgh Gold award. Whatever your interest, each camp is a great opportunity to do something worthwhile and totally different, have fun and get to know new people.
CSV Heritage Camps volunteers contribute £200 towards the cost of accommodation, food, equipment for the week.

Gap Year Opportunities

CSV Full Time Volunteering has a wide variety of opportunities for those looking to take a free gap year in the UK and gain skills and experience for their CV.  Placements are available throughout the year for a period of 6-12 months.

Our opportunities involve moving away from home however accommodation and subsistence is provided including £35 per week for day to day expenses plus food (or up to £40 per week to buy food).  Volunteers could be placed anywhere in the UK from the highlands of Scotland to the coasts of Cornwall depending on the project to which the volunteer is matched. There are hundreds of opportunities and a wide range of different projects volunteers can get involved in.

The type of opportunities are wide ranging but are largely within health or social care settings.
Typically these might include:
• Supporting adults or children that have a disability in their own home
• Helping disabled students at university e.g. by note taking or helping with day-to-day living
• Providing respite care for full time carers
• Volunteering in a group or community home
• Providing support or help in a homeless shelter
• Mentoring and befriending young people at risk of offending or exclusion from school

CSV’s placements are a great opportunity to gain practical skills and experience, improve employability, make new friends and make a difference to people’s lives. No previous experience or qualifications are required. Volunteers should be aged between 18-35 and be eligible to volunteer full-time in the UK.
