I am writing to invite you to attend one of our Community Saturdays at Newport Central Library. We want to encourage the use of the library as a community resource by inviting groups, council departments, clubs and societies to meet our library customers to promote their activities and services. This is a great opportunity for your service to meet a wider range of potential clients and to informally promote your services. We would like to invite your group to visit Newport Central Library to promote the services within the community. We will support your group by displaying a collection of books related to your service, and provide a table and display board for any materials you wish to promote.
 
Community Saturdays will take place on the first Saturday of the month, between 11am and 3pm.  You can choose to do the whole day or between 11am and 1pm or 1pm to 3pm.

Compass Drop in Training

This coming weekend is the first of Gwent's leader training weekends.

An additional opportunity is now available on the Sunday (12th October) between 10 am and 2pm to 'drop in' for help and advice on the new Compass system that is in the process of being rolled out.

 
For those of you who have already registered, you may have questions about how to do things? For those of you who haven't been in to Compass yet, you might want to find out more .....

The venue for this is The Power Station, Blenheim Rd, St. Dials, Cwmbran, NP44 4SY.

First Aid Dates (update) 2014/15

NEWPORT SCOUT AND GUIDE FIRST AID TRAINING 2014/2015 

The partnership between British Red Cross and the Scout Association ends March 31st 2015 So the First Aid training team re-aligning with a new well respected training provider. 

The revised course remains a 2 day outdoor course which is recognised by a majority of the lead bodies which require a specific level of qualification, which include ML both Summer & Winter, IML, WGL, SPA, MIA, MICRYA, BCU, WECA, SMBLA, CTC, BASI, etc. 

The 2 day practical certificate offers a greater in-depth knowledge designed for outdoor pursuits, having elements relevant for the out doors Day 2 of the course will be conducted out doors and there must be at least 6 candidates to run the course with a maximum of 12 persons.

BIG NEW PRIME-TIME BBC ONE ADVENTURE SERIES

I am emailing from Electric Ray (a Sony Pictures company) regarding a BIG NEW PRIME-TIME BBC ONE ADVENTURE SERIES that we are making called ‘Prized Apart’.  We are currently casting and looking for people to take part in the programme and we feel it’s something that might interest Scout Leaders and those involved with Scouting.

Taking part in this exciting new series would include travel abroad, the adventure of a life time and there is a life changing prize fund for the winners! We are looking for couples/pairs from all walks of life, of all ages and varying fitness levels.

Rugby Tickets Offer

All members must wear their neckers on the day to be able to take advantage of this offer.
