A large number of the scouts from across Newport are
taking part in a Fire Safety Course run by the Fire Service at Malpas
Its a mix of hands on learning supported
by presentation in the classroom. The "Hands
on" involves looking at what the different rescue and firefigting vehicles are designed for – railway, car crashes,
house fires and even firefighting and rescue on the water.
The Fire Crews demonstrated how to rescue a horse and
on a very wet and cold night the bit we all saw how to put out fire.
Due to the oversubscription of scouts attending only two had the opportunity to dress as a fire fighters and
use the equipment to put a fire out.
Great night of active fun scouts and more to
follow. Thanks to the watches at Malpas Fire Station for their presentation.
