On behalf of the whole of the Newport District Scout team thank you for taking the time to see what Newport District scouts has to offer the youngsters of this area.
As the newly appointed District Commissioner I have overall responsibility for the management and operation of Scouting throughout Newport. This I would not be able to do without the tremendous support I receive from the district team, as a team we offer help to Group Scout Leaders, whom in turn manage their individual groups sections.
Scouting has just celebrated its 100th birthday, and as we enter into the next 100 years of scouting for both boys & girls it is more relevant now than ever.
Scouting is a means of whereby youngsters can experience a wide range of outdoor experiences in a safe and friendly environment. Whether they are trying climbing or canoeing, learning about world cultures, the environment, the themes are endless, they are encouraged to develop as independent young people but still value working within a group. All members from each section, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Network Scouts are encouraged to be active, motivated and not afraid to think differently.
Children are the future and there is a unique joy in helping them discover new talents, this is achieved through the delivery of a varied scout programme.
Should you wish for you or your child to get involved in scouting and require further information please contact me at [email protected]
Yours in scouting,
Les Ainscough.
