Newport Scouts, Beavers and Cubs go down to the woods. During half term a number of the city’s membership with the support of parents travelled to Wentwood to plant oak trees etc to help support the next 100 years of scouting. On Tuesday on a day which was both warm with a bit of light rain over 60 scouts [of all ages] helped plant new trees in mud. Having a great time putting something back into the countryside and where better than Wales largest natural forest.
Thanks everyone on a great effort I know Pollys looking forward to returning in 50 years time to see how many of the trees have grown. We where lucky to see a monster in the woods [no not winger] and also a 500 year old oak tree [I bet that could tell a tail or two]?
