2007 a Centenary of Scouting
2007 is the 100th Anniversary of the start of scouting and it happened here in the United Kingdom.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!
Scouting around the world will be celebrating not only the last 100 years but also the start of a new century for scouting.
Some of you, like me, may even have been lucky enough to have visited or even camped on Brownsea Island (Pool, Dorset).
During 2007 the World Jamboree is to be held in the United Kingdom with special trips to Brownsea Island, a small number of lucky Scouts from Newport will be taking part in the Jamboree and possibly visit the birthplace of scouting.
Events will be taking part around the world thought the year and Newport will be no different, we have already started planning!!

Ezeeeplay are the Districts first sponsor for our events celebrating A Centenary of Scouting in 2007. Ezeeeplay, Newport's premier children's indoor activity play centre are sponsoring the 2007 badge competition for winners in the Beavers and Cubs age ranges. Event details will appear on the site as they are organised, there is still plenty of time to suggest ideas on how the District can celebrate.
Ideas so far include:
A GIANT CAMP
100 Handshakes each
100 nights camping (As a group total)
100 penny towers
100 new members (As a District)
Badge competition.
