Newport District Celebrates 100 Years of Scouting
Newport District started 2007's activities on the 2nd January with 168 people crossing Newport's 101 year old Transporter bridge.
After a rainy start the weather cleared and the sun came out for us to climb the 278 steps to the top of the bridge.
The views from the top of the bridge are breathtaking although some didn't like looking down at the river, just 240 feat bellow
Most were relieved that once they climbed back down they got to ride the gondola back to the other side
The event was recorded by the South Wales Argus and made the front page! and were captured on video This was the first of the 100 year celebrations to be held in Newport this year so watch out for the others!
A big thanks go to the organisers, Newport City Council, the Friends of the Transporter Bridge and of course all those that turned up to support the event.
