Swimming Gala

Held at:    South East Regional Swimming Pool, Newport

On:    Saturday 24^th February 2007

The annual swimming gala continued at its new home at the

South East Regional Swimming Pool, Newport. Building on the success of the event last year it grew with 41 Swimmers entered from Scout troops and Explorer units from around Newport District.

Events were held for swimmers in the 11 and under, 12 and under,

13 and under, 14 and under age groups, as well as a 4 x 25 metre relay

and a Lilo fun race. There was also a race for the Explorers and leaders.

The Scout Troops that took part were:

1^st Llanmartin Scout Troop

1^st Marshfield Scout Troop

1^st Wentwood Scout Troop

24^th Newport Scout Troop

25^th Newport (Air)/(Sea) Scout Troop

26^th Newport Scout Troop

28^th Newport Scout Troop

Points were awarded for each race to determine the overall winning troop. The winning troop were then presented with the winners shield which they will keep for a year.

This years winners were:

During the event there were heats and semi finals run before the swimmers lined up for the finals.
