1st Bassaleg Cub Scouts have a sleepover in the Science museum.
We left Newport station about 2.30 and arrived in London about 4.30,
times may vary as i did not use my watch much, the weather was lovely
and we walked from Paddington Station to Hyde Park an on to Baden
Powell House we had a little look inside and took some photographs
with Baden Powell's statue and than we found a fish and chips
restaurant because we were all hungry afterwards we walked on to the
Science museum and had to wait a couple of minutes before we were let
inside ,we were all given a karri mat and told to find a place to
sleep on the 2nd floor on the side next door to the exhibitions it
was unbelievable.
Altogether there were about 3 50 children with parents and or leaders,
lots of birthday parties and Brownies and Cub Scouts .Boys were
sleeping on the right side of the exhibition hall and the girls on
the left. After we put our stuff ready for the night we all went to
our usher, we were planet Yellow and had to follow where ever we went,
it was all go, we never stopped for a minute only about 8.30 for our
supper. We saw experiments with nitro glycerine, made racing cars out
of cardboard and a balloon and a kaleidoscope by the time we were
finished it must have been about 12 o'clock midnight. After a little
talk we all got into our sleeping bags in between the model boats
which were about 3 meters long, the floor was uncomfortable but we
were to tired. We were woken up about 7 o clock for breakfast,
no washing up as it was not like bacon and egg. We all than ended up
in the cinema of the museum and saw a 3 D film about the ocean and
Africa and all the wild animals it was absolutely fantastic.
Then it was time to go home we bought some things in the museum shop and walked back to Paddington station and waited for the train to take us back home. Thank you to Akela. Baloo and Chil, for a lovely time the Cub Scouts of the 1st Bassaleg Cub Pack and Tilly.
