District fishing training day and county fishing competition 2007
2007
saw record breaking numbers turn out for the district training day, the
day started with a theory session followed by an afternoon on the lake
putting the newly acquired skills to the test.
During the afternoon all but 2 of 35 scouts managed to successfully catch a fish.
The following week saw the County Angling Competition, held at Newport angling's bob small fishery.
The event was strongly supported by Newport district and won by a scout from the 24th Newport and a cub from the 7th Newport. Winning with weights that have not been seen in the competition for many years.
A MASSIVE THANKS to Newport Angling for all of there help in organising and marshalling the competition and allowing us to practise on there water. Also thanks to the adults and leaders that helped at the training day and the competition.
Finally well done to all those that took part, all seem to have enjoyed the days regardless of the number of fish they caught.
