SCOUTING IN NEWPORT

Newport District Scouts

Swimming Gala

Held at:    South East Regional Swimming Pool, Newport

On:    Saturday 25^th February 2006

This year the annual swimming gala moved from its home of many years at Maindee to the spectacular new surroundings at the

South East Regional Swimming Pool, Newport.

There were 29 Swimmers entered from Scout troops and Explorer units from around Newport District.

Events were held for swimmers in the 11 and under, 12 and under,

13 and under, 14 and under age groups, as well as a 4 x 25 metre relay

and a Lilo fun race.

The Scout Troops that took part were:

1^st Caerleon Scout Troop

1^st Llanmartin Scout Troop

1^st Wentwood Scout Troop (incorporating 29^th Newport (Sea) Scout Troop)

24^th Newport Scout Troop

25^th Newport (Air) Scout Troop

25^th Newport (Sea) Scout Troop

Points were awarded for each race to determine the overall winning troop. The winning troop were then presented with the winners shield which they will keep for a year.

This years winners were:

During the event there were heats and semi finals run before the swimmers lined up for the finals.

12 and Under
