SCOUTING IN NEWPORT

NEWPORT DISTRICT CUBSCOUTS 90 YEARS CELEBRATION CAMP

On Friday the 30th June 2006 Cub Scouts from Newport District camped at Islwyn Scout Parc for their annual Cub Scout District camp. This camp was to commemorate 90 years of Cub Scouts Lord Robert Baden Powell founded Wolf Cubs in 1916.

Over 100 Cub Scouts and their Leaders took part to make sure that the boys and girls had a brilliant time and that they would remember this special camp for years and years as part of their Cub Scouting.

Specialist Leaders and their own Akela's assistant leaders, pack assistants gave up their precious time   for a weekend to remember.

Activities available were canoeing, abseiling, climbing, archery, cooking, woggle painting, balloon race, designing a new camp blanket badge, recognising new and old photographs of leaders, painting a banner and many more handicrafts.

In the evening as part of every camp we sang camp fire songs at our brilliant campfire with our quests ate a piece of the biggest birthday cake we had ever seen after we sang happy birthday in English and Welsh. To finish our celebration for the day we had a magnificent fire works display, which we all thoroughly enjoyed.

Sunday morning we had a special Scouts Own and after striking camp we let go of our balloons it was a lovely moment seeing al these balloons fly away. After striking camp everybody took part in the water fight, Cub Scouts with the biggest water pistols I had ever seen and the Leaders with buckets. The camp was brilliant and so was the weather. Thanks to all who made it happen for the Cub Scouts of NEWPORT.
