Area Fishing Competition

SCOUTING IN NEWPORT

This years Area fishing competition was well supported again with over 20 Scouts spending a lovely sunny September Saturday at Newport Angling Associations Bob Small Fishery.

Being the day after the first chilly night of the year, things were very quiet on the water with not many fish stirring.  We persevered and a couple of Scouts started landing decent sized fish and a whopper escaped before the landing net could be brought into action!

The sun continued to shine and the fish continued to sleep.  At the end of the day the winning catch amounted to about two pounds.  Most boys and girls keep-nets remained empty, but all are as keen as ever to go on another fishing trip.

Our thanks go to Newport Angling association for the use of there waters and invaluable help, advice, and support.
