Annual District Bike Ride.
On a baking hot Saturday morning in July, 18 Scouts and several leaders gathered for the annual District bike ride, for the fist time it was held outside the district starting at Castell Coch for a ride along the Taff Trail to Ynysangharad park (and back).
The day started with a safety brief and a check of bikes and equipment, involving going flat out at Dave and slamming on the brakes!
A quick photo call and it was time for the off, we were all split into groups and set off, straight up a hill!!! Time to get off and walk!
The first checkpoint was a road crossing where we were seen across the road by the support crew. A short ride later along the well marked paths we were at the park for lunch, a short picnic on the grass under the trees, a look around the park and we were off again, back towards Cardiff, some groups getting closer to the city centre than others before we all met up at Castell Coch, a little sore, very sweaty, but very happy.
