SCOUTING IN NEWPORT

Welcome to the Newport District Website.

'When someone shares something of value with you, and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others.'  Chinese Proverb:

May has arrived and it is so good to see so many people active taking part in the spirit of Scouting in all sections. This month will see the Gower Adventure Camp and the District and group AGM's. This month will see "Polly" who has been newports D.C. for the past ten years is passing on the batton to Mr Les Ainscough who will be taken up the post at DC at the AGM.

April has flown by and the month was packed full with the St Georges day parade, a scout bike ride with over 60 attendees and various group activities including camping!

Newport started its celebrations early with an event on Newport's 100 year old Transporter bridge with members of every section and most groups out for the energetic climb up and over the the landmark. The event, believed to be the first official centenary celebration in Wales was recorded for posterity by a TV news crew and the South Wales Argus. Newport marked the end of the centenary celebrations with a walk around Wentwood on a sunny Saturday at the end of December.
