NEWPORT AIR SCOUTS RAF INSPECTION The Air Scouts of Newport where once again inspected by an Officer of the Royal Air Force. Yes some time before the inspection the hut was given a go ‘seen too’ with the Explorers taken the lead with a special meeting to reach the part of the HQ that don’t often get reached! Well done lads.
The Big day and Winger is down the
hut before he leaves for work putting the tables out ready for the night’s
activities and to ensure the hut was up to standard. 18.00hrs and Polly and
the team start turning up. The pressure on! The final run through, final
check of uniforms and some lads being carried into the hut so their shoes
wouldn’t get dirty! 18.50 Polly leaves to escort the RAF office safety to the hut. The hut is now full of very nervous Air Scouts. So much so when Pollys wife turn up to run the ‘mess room’ the troop to a person stood to the alert, what a laugh. The GSL, DC and the HQ commissioner for Air Scouts also in attendance both ready for the inspection. Too the time table the office arrives the inspection begins!
First the formal part of the evening with the inspection of all on parade! Uniform, shoes and the scouts deportment.’ [So far so good]’. Then the opportunity to show and talk about the activities we have been involved in the hopes and plans for the future. Some paper work for the Office to complete and take away with him before sending it off to the RAF HQ and Scouting.
Finally – presentation of awards and thanks to all who work so hard to ensure Air continues to the high standard set by the RAF. The troop has held RAF recognition for the last 28 years and is the only Air troop, in Wales to hold this very special award of RAF Recognition. O’ Yes they were successful in keeping RAF INSPECTION. So well done 25 Air scouts.
