St Georges Day

April saw the annual St Georges day parade where all of the sections in Newport join together to reaffirm the promise, this year saw the parade in a new venue, we all started at the Civic Centre and then marched through the streets of Newport to the church.

During the service all of the members joined together and made their promises.

The mayor and mayorees who both wore the Newport District Neckerchief along with there mayoral chains addressed the district and presented Polly with a gift as a thank you for the work he and the leaders of the district had made over his mayoral year.

Following the service we returned to the Civic Centre (the quick way) where GW (24th) DM (1st Caerleon) and LA (7th) were presented with there wood badges (Two wooden toggles on a leather strip worn around the neck to signify completion of training).

It is truly a breathtaking sight to see so many people out on the streets proudly wearing there uniforms, united under one ideal "Scouting"

YOU ARE A CREDIT TO YOURSELVES,  YOUR DISTRICT AND SCOUTING.

THANK YOU.
