Explorer Scouts meet Batman & Robin.
The day was set for Newport Explorers to come to the aid of the Cities Mayor in supporting those local heroes who where going to abseil down the Cities Clock tower.
29th March in a month that seem rain, snow and gala force winds and this Saturday did its best to make the day all the challenging. Strong cold winds and rain and little if any sun. Polly and Baz turn up with shelter, the explorers under the leadership of AJ and Rhys set up the Burger tent. [Don�t forget the hot drinks]! Very much in demand!
The team support by a few Air Scouts set about selling and serving hot dogs, burgers and hot drinks as the orders came in with Les on the grill, also the warmest and driest part on the event. Also the selling of raffle tickets, running up and down the tower with batteries and other items required by the abseiling and photo team! [It�s a long way up to the top so only the strong of hart and coolest of mind where allowed to that job]. Well done Rhys, AJ and yes even Polly [once] ensuring all the heroes had a record of their time on the clock tower.
By 16.00hrs all was done and the hard work of the team had ensure the event was a great success even with the opportunity to meet Batman and Robin all in the day of Newport Explorer.
